Do you ever feel like you’re cooking the same dishes over and over again? Do you want to learn how to cook more recipes, but the idea of going to school seems a little out of your reach? I know I get those feelings! I am always on the lookout for new recipes and have even bought cooking books to learn how to improve my cooking skills. But I have to be honest, they are still sitting on the shelf or in the linen closet where I last put them.

I recently discovered an online cooking school called Salted that has a ton of cooking videos by top chefs around the country. It’s a new type of cooking school that works with 100 of the best chefs in the country to bring their members a world class cooking education. Salted is grounded in beautiful video, exclusive classes, and both culinary skills and recipes from the most celebrated restaurants in the country.

I know when I heard the name Salted, I wondered why they chose that name. They chose the name “Salted” for two reasons. First, “Salt” is the foundation of cooking, much like their tutorials that can be the foundation of your cooking education, regardless of whether you are a novice in the kitchen, or advanced. Second, the suffix “ed” speaks to the value they place on education (as well as entertainment).

I love the way Salted is set up. Once you sign in, you can check out the available courses. Included are “Featured Skills,” “Featured Chefs’ Recipes,” “Your Recent Tutorials,” “Simply Vegan,” “Soups and Stocks Bootcamp,” “Holiday Cocktail Party Bites,” “Mastering Brunch,” “Butchering Techniques for Whole Animals,” and “Featured Chefs.” There is a plethora of information about cooking skills, techniques and recipes! You can also view videos based on the level of difficulty, choosing from Easy, Intermediate and Advanced.

When you click on each video, it gives you information about the recipe or tutorial you’re learning about. Information includes the Level of Difficulty, Prep Time, Cook Time, Total Time and Serving Size. It also has a section with the Steps (including time frames for different topics), What You’ll Need, and Chef’s Notes. You can even add your own comments to the video.

I really love the way Salted is set up, as well as the information provided.  I also love that the information is in the form of videos, so I feel like I’m in a class – one-on-one with the instructor. If there are tutorials or recipes you really like, you can build your own Cookbook so you can watch them later. Not to mention the fact that you can network with the amazing chefs in your area, as well as get exclusive VIP offers and discounts.
