Do you shop at Tobacco-Free Retailers? I definitely make an effort to do so. So why should you shop Tobacco-Free? What’s the cost of not shopping Tobacco-Free

Tobacco not only has health costs, but also financial costs. I was shocked by how much cigarettes cost in stores now. Some are as much as $8.00 a pack (and up). Imagine what kind of financial hardship this creates for families. I haven’t even mentioned the harmful chemicals that are found in tobacco products.  Did you know that tobacco is the only consumer product that kills when used as intended? The use of tobacco costs 480,000 lives and $289 billion in health care bills and economic losses each year! That is a big cost! I had no idea until recently that the tobacco industry spends $8.8 billion per year and $1 million per hour on youth targeted marketing!  You can see more facts here.

I personally loved seeing some of my favorite retailers become Tobacco-Free retailers. My first impression was a cleaner and healthier store and environment. I love supporting retailers who strive to become beneficial to the community, and by becoming tobacco-free, they are striving to reduce the use and costs of tobacco. I will continue to support those retailers by shopping tobacco-free. How about you?

You can join the Tobacco-Free mission by shopping Tobacco-Free Retailers. These retailers have chosen to go tobacco-free because they have recognized that selling these deadly products sends the wrong messages to kids and damages the overall health of their customers and communities. You can go to the Tobacco-Free site and thank your Tobacco-Free Retailers or recommend a retailer go tobacco-free. Cool, right?
