Little Known Facts About the Big Dogs:
- Great Danes can be remarkably gentle
Many Danes share their homes with small dogs and cats and they have a reputation for being wonderful with children and sometimes work as therapy dogs.
- Great Danes won’t eat you out of house and home
A full-grown Great Dane will only eat about 2-3 cups of dry food in a meal. Try to avoid feeding them too much protein should be avoided, particularly with puppies, as growing faster than they already do can damage bones and joints.
- Great Danes need human contact
An extremely sensitive breed, Great Danes need to maintain close contact with their human family. Living a lonely life can make a Great Dane mentally unstable, depressed, and even aggressive.
- Great Danes are not the tallest breed
Although the current holder of the world record for tallest dog is a 42-inch tall Great Dane, the Irish Wolfhound is officially the tallest breed. But they are still big: an average adult male will weigh in at about 140 to 200 pounds.
- Great Danes make great apartment dogs
Despite their size, they are not as high energy as other breeds. However, daily exercise is important, brisk half hour walk a day will do!
MY THOUGHTS
We really enjoyed watching “Marmaduke” as a family. It was an enjoyable and lighthearted family comedy. I’m sure there will be a sequel to “Marmaduke” and I look forward to watching it with my boys!

I’d always been told (even from people that have them) that they are very clumsy, and don’t need to live in small places, and that they will eat you out of house and home. So, the facts that were opposite of those are new to me. I’m sure those were being overfed, though!

Great Danes won’t eat you out of house and home is a fact I did not know. I thought that because of their size, they would eat more.

The fact I learned is that great danes need human contact. Thanks!!
I can’t believe that they eat only 2 – 3 cups of dry food each meal. I thought such a big dog would eat a LOT more than that.
Thanks for the chance to win!
