I do alot of little things…. separating garbage and recycling, energy saving lightbulbs, minimize the heat loss in my home, taking my grocery bags to the store. I firmly believe that if everyone will contribute with the little things, we help the world out as a whole.

I use vinegar instead of fabric softener in the rinse cycle of the laundry. It works better and is much cheaper.

We reuse, reduce, recycle. We’ve put our water heater on a timer and wrapped it. Next, we’re going to install storm doors and windows.
I try to be green to set a good example for my kids, but the most impressive thing I’ve ever done to be green was last weekend when we were volunteering at the Food Bank. We were putting bulk rice into smaller, zip-loc bags. I asked the guy in charge if he was going to throw away all the “boxtop for education” labels. He said yes!! So after the shift was over, I ripped them all off to donate to one of the smaller schools in our district. Then I asked if he was going to recycle the boxes. He said no. So I brought ALL of them to the recycling center. We bagged 31,000 pounds of rice that day, so that’s A LOT of zip loc bag boxes!
