Trying to Have a Baby? on The View

On Thursday, it was an incredible show on “The View!” First of all, I was glad to hear the ladies’ reactions to OctoMom. I appreciated Whoopi pointing out that Nadya should have some consideration for her elderly parents (who are in their 70s) and who are helping to support her and her 14 kids. I just think it’s a matter of responsibility. No more babies OctoMom! I can’t even believe she said she would consider having another “if” she got married some day.

Thursday’s show was a great one!  If you missed it, don’t fret – you can view it HERE! I learned a few interesting things in this segment. (1) At age of 30, you have lost 90% of your eggs. (2) The average cost of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is $12,400 and many insurance companies don’t cover it. (3) A person is considered infertile if pregancy does not result after 1 year of trying to conceive.

I really appreciated the personal stories that were shared on the show.  I can only imagine how disheartening it is to want a baby so bad, try to conceive, and not be able to.  I appreciated the personal stories shared by ladies of “The View,” as well as the guest appearances on the show.

I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review.

I’m pretty sure I didn’t see this episode because I’m sure that I would be completely infuriated by that woman. I knew about the loss of eggs etc after a certain age. Luckily that didn’t affect me at all considering both of my youngest girls were born as I was nearing 40 with no trouble at all conceiving. However, I didn’t know the price of invitro. I knew it was expensive though. What I want to know is how does a single mom of six kids (?) with no job and living off public assistance come up with the money for invitro. The whole situation is entirely ludicrous.

I completely agree with you about how disappointing it must be for people who cannot conceive, being a mother is one of the happiest things in my life. My step-son and DIL had to have in-vitro, but they were lucky enough that it worked on the first try. We now have a gorgeous grandson who will be 4 in April.
