I like to have everything planned before we start on our trips. I make sure we leave super early so that way the kids can sleep in the car for a little bit but that way were not crunched for time. If we see something we want to do on our trip we have time to stop and we don’t have to rush. Rushing around really stresses out our kids and especially my husband.
These are great tips that you posted. I would like to find some games for my kids that are easy to travel with so that way they aren’t watching DVD’s the whole time.

everytme we go on a long car ride….usually to florida which is 18 hours i like to buy my kids a new dvd each, make them a cd with their fave music and if they r lucky a new video game

One idea under the pictures category. I s to always take a picture with the family and the name of the spot you are traveling to. For example when we went to Seaside last year we wrote Seaside 2009 in the sand on the beach and stood in front of it. When we go to Disneyland we always take a picture at the front entry where disney is spelled out in front of the train station. At Whistler I brought food coloring and wrote Whistler in the snow.

Those are all great ideas for a family trip, especially if the kids are little ones! Although if my sister and I get bored enough, we will play the ‘I spy’ or the ‘license plate’ game

You have some awesome idea~ great ones, as a matter of fact! My boys are now teens and we traveled a lot when out kids were younger. Boy, did you write a little article about our family? I can so relate- traveling with kids can be fun- and remember to be FLEXIBLE…….. Enjoyed your post.
