The Young Victoria – Coming to a Theater Near You!

The Young VictoriaI am so excited!  I was invited to attend a screening this week in downtown Seattle of the upcoming movie, “The Young Victoria.”  It stars Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada) and is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée.  The movie is written by Academy Award Winner Julian Fellowes (Gosford Park) and produced by a team including Graham King (The Departed), Martin Scorsese, Tim Headington and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.  The film has already received international acclaim!  The movie will begin opening in select theaters beginning December 18th – that’s this week!!

The Young Victoria 1In The Young Victoria, Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) stars as Queen Victoria in the turbulent first years of her reign. Rupert Friend (Pride & Prejudice) portrays Prince Albert, the suitor who wins her heart and becomes her partner in one of history’s greatest romances. This love story, set amongst all the intrigue of the court, also features Paul Bettany (Iron Man, The Da Vinci Code), Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Jim Broadbent (The Damned United, The Chronicles of Narnia), Thomas Kretschmann (Valkyrie), and Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Tristan & Isolde).  “The Young Victoria” is rated PG and runs for 104 minutes.

I had not heard of the movie before this opportunity.  However, as soon as I watched the trailer, I knew it was a movie I would want to see!  You’ll be hearing more about the movie and my thoughts later this week.  Be sure to check out the site and see what you think of the movie!

I can’t wait to see this one. I saw Sarah Ferguson on one of the morning talk shows and knew that I wanted to see this one. She was adament that all the actors was from Britain and that is was true to the monarch and portray them in a good light – even after all they have done to her. She is a wonderful woman, and I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about the movie.
So glad you got to see a pre-screening.
