5 Tips for Successful Bedtimes!

I treasure bedtime in my house, because it’s when I can enjoy peace and quiet and spend time with my husband.  It is my lunch for the day – lol!  We have a bedtime for our kids, but lately have struggled maintaining it.  If dinner is later than planned, then bedtime always follows the same way.  So, here are 5 tips I’ve used to get my kids to bed and keep them in bed.

1 – Give them a bubble bath (lavender scent helps a ton).  Dry them off and put their pjs on.

2 – Have evening prayers with them.  We have family scripture study, prayers, and then give compliments.  Each child has his own day (or days since we have 3 kids).  We all go around and give that child a compliment.  Sundays are compliments for mommy and daddy.

3 – Set a bed “time.”  Stick by that time.  Encourage your spouse (and vice versa) to keep that bed “time” for the kids.

4 – Read a bedtime story to your kids.  Kids love to be read to.  Find a favorite book and read to them before lights out.

5 – Give them hugs and kisses and tuck them into bed.  If they get out of bed, repeat putting them in bed.  They’ll get the hang of it.

We usually have a wonderful bedtime and it goes so smooth. Similar to yours… bath, pj’s, book, kisses, and bed. But the last couple days have been rough. Tonight I had to let him cry a bit, but lucky it only last like 6 or 7 min.
