Got Chocolate Milk? Giveaway

Got Chocolate milk

In our family, we drink A LOT of milk!  We love chocolate milk – it’s usually how I drink my milk – with chocolate – lol!  We drink milk in a cup, pour it on our cereal, make pudding with it…the list goes on and on!  In celebration of Halloween, Chocolate Milk is being celebrated across the country, with many major cities being visited by the Milk Mobile.  Why does the got milk? campaign travel around the country?  The goal is unmask the bone-building benefits of chocolate milk and help moms and kids build some serious skeletons this Halloween.  I think this is really creative – milk, bones, skeletons, and Halloween.

Got Milk1

Let’s face it, sweets are at the heart of the Halloween fun.  But it’s easy for moms to make the holiday season a little healthier without being booed by the kids.  Experts agree that lowfat chocolate milk – The Official Drink of Halloween – is a tasty way to build strong bones that no one will find scary. In October, local milk processors are helping residents make Halloween a little healthier by unmasking the nutritious benefits of lowfat chocolate milk and encouraging children to stay active this holiday season.

The Official Drink of Halloween: Coming to a Spook-tacular Museum Near You

The Official Drink of Halloween team will host a free Halloween-themed event where families can learn about the bone-building benefits of chocolate milk and try out new, tasty recipes that make drinking milk even more fun. On-site, kids and moms can take a souvenir Milk Mustache photo, sample delicious and nutritious lowfat and fat free chocolate milk provided by the nation’s milk processors and win “terror-ific” Halloween-themed prizes.

Bone-Building Nutrition In Disguise

Chocolate milk is a delicious and nutritious alternative with bone-building might that won’t fright – with a taste kids love. But chocolate milk doesn’t just taste good – it is a major source of calcium and provides other important bone-building nutrients including vitamin D, protein, potassium and phosphorus. Each 8-ounce serving provides 300 milligrams of calcium – or 30 percent of the daily value for this vital bone-building nutrient.

“Chocolate milk is a nutritious alternative to sugar-filled sodas and fruit drinks that contain little or no nutrients,” said Dr. Tanya Remer Altmann, MD, and author of Mommy Calls, Dr Tanya Answers Parents’ Top 101 Questions about Babies and Toddlers. “Chocolate milk provides the same 9 essential nutrients as white milk, and is packed with the calcium and vitamin D kids need to build strong bones.”

And here’s a spooky fact: two out of three kids fail to get enough calcium and studies show that kids who drink chocolate and other flavored milks have higher calcium intakes than those who don’t drink milk. They also tend to drink fewer sugary sodas and fruit drinks and are more likely to be at a healthy weight compared to kids who drink little or no milk. Studies also suggest that children who avoid milk are more likely to suffer bone fractures, have lower bone mass and are shorter than their milk-drinking peers.

To spread the word on the bone building benefits of chocolate milk nationwide, the campaign will visit 25 markets across the country and providing tips on how easy it is for moms to swap out sugary sodas and fruit drinks for the bone-building nutrients in milk.
