I love Featured Blogger Fridays because it gives all of my readers and visitors, as well as myself, a chance to get to know other bloggers out in the blogosphere.  Today, I have the privilege of introducing a blogging friend of mine – Jennifer (aka Speedy).  I love her positive and cheery personality and her blog, Eighty MPH Mom is awesome!  Without further ado…..here’s Jennifer!!

How did you choose the name of your blog?

I chose Eighty MPH Mom because I feel like that is how fast I am going most days!  I also happen to like driving, so the name just came to me and it stuck!

 Who designed your blog?

Joanna from Southern Girl Blog Designs was my designer.  I think she did a fabulous job.  I wanted something a little different, and she worked with me until it was perfect.

 Why do you blog?

I initially started blogging to express myself, and tell my stories. I also thought it would be a neat way to chronicle the happenings in our family.  I wish blogging had been popular when my kids were little – I would have had so much fun with that. How neat it would have been to watch them grow up with not only pictures, but words on the web too!

What is the purpose of your blog?

Well, the purpose initially was what I mentioned above.  Since my blog has grown, I have found that I enjoy much  more than just writing about family.  It is a way to express my opinion, participate on other blogs and interact with others through memes and and other events.  I also thoroughly enjoy doing product reviews, and telling my readers about my “finds”.  I love to share information on a “can’t live without” product.  I also have a blast hosting giveaways. I know how much fun it is to win, and I am glad to offer that chance to my readers.  I have also started a meme called “Monday Mingle” where I encourage other bloggers to do a short vlog and link up on my site.  We do this every Monday.  It is so fun to see my favorite bloggers “in action” – I feel like I really know them after watching their vlog.  I encourage you all to join in – it’s fun – just ask Shannon!

 Do you have any blogging tips (i.e. from those getting started to those who have been blogging longer than you)?

Blogging tips…hmmm let’s see. Well for the bloggers just getting started, I would say be true to yourself.  It is YOUR blog, so write what you want to. Do not let other influence you (negatively at least!). Another thing I would suggest is to visit other blogs and comment.  Not only will you find some wonderful information, you can meet some amazing people. Also, don’t be afraid to ask to exchange buttons. I did this when I started my blog, and was a little nervous at first. I found that most bloggers, even the experienced ones, were kind enough to list my button.  That definitely helps to get your name out there.  To those that have been blogging longer than me?  Well, I would say – don’t get too full of yourself. Be nice to those who may not have been around as long as you.  We all started somewhere. I would also say to “allow” new/different people into your group – you might be surprised how much someone can add.

 Are you married?  If so, how long?

I have been married for 14 years – but we have been together for 18.  My husband is a kind, gentle soul, and I am so lucky!

Do you have children?  If so, how many?

I have two children. I have a son who is in college (Cal Poly), and a daughter who is 13 and in 8th grade.  My children mean the world to me.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

I love several, but it depends on my mood.  One movie that sucks me in every time is “Bridges of Madison County”.  Something about that movie really tugs at the heartstrings.  Terms of Endearment is another one…that one is just too sad. 

Who is your favorite actor?

Oh there are several!  As far as TV goes – I love Chris Noth.  Movies – I love Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, Kevin Costner, 

What is your favorite dessert?

Did you say dessert?  I love dessert!  I love Creme Brulee, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Covered Strawberries – mmmmmmmm! Oh, and I love Cotton Candy too LOL

What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas is my favorite.  It is such a special day!
 
 And of course, you know me, there has to be a chocolate question.  What is your favorite candy bar?
