DVDs for Kids
We try to limit tv watching in our home by not having cable (yes we don’t have the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon) and renting movies from Blockbuster Online or the library instead. This way we can monitor what comes into our home. Once upon a time we had cable (while living on campus at BYU – it was included in the rent), but found that we would be up to 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning watching NOTHING. Just flipping through the channels to see what was good on tv. Not to mention the fact that half of the tv shows out there now condone immoral standards.
Blockbuster Online is awesome and allows us to select up to 3 dvds at a time, without paying any late fees. We can take the dvds we watch back to the store and exchange them for any other movie in the store. They then mail new movies to us (from the ones we select that our placed into our movie que).
The library is great because we can rent them for free! They have kids movies, family movies, tv shows, etc.

But recently, I purchased a set of Disney’s “Baby Einstein” dvds. They are 30 minute shows that have different shapes, pictures, and other educational items shown, with classical music played in the background. I bought them from someone on craigslist recently for $35.00. Her kids watched them a handful of times, so they were in “like new” condition. Normally they retail for $110.00 plus online. I LOVE craigslist!
